What brands are you looking at? I am in the market for a 20 auto at the moment too. My son is almost 8 and will still shoot his .410 a few years, but I have around 530 bucks in Cabelas points and a $50 gift certificate to spend. Went to look at a Stoeger last Saturday but there was a "shotgun" guy there that showed me a Montefeltro. Not sure if I want to cough up 4-500 extra bucks but it was super nice. I like using my 20g 870 a couple times a year so I would want an auto that has a regular stock and a youth stock to interchange. Also When the time is right, my son can start with youth stock and grow into the adult stock.

I have owned my Montefeltro for almost 2 years now, and I don't know if I would trade it for any other 20ga shotgun. I've been shooting it on Thursdays at Bridgeview more than my 12ga. Sometimes I swear that shoot the Montefeltro better than the 12ga.

They make a Montefeltro that comes with a youth stock and a full size stock. I can tell you this if you bought that shotgun for your son make sure to keep the youth stock. Your son would be able to pass it down to his son when the time comes.
