I wanted to be an engineer. Didn't have the grades for Georgia Tech, so I enrolled at UGA, hoping to transfer after a few years. Wine, Women and Song got the better of me.

BS Biology with 30 hours of Chemistry. Took a job as a lab tech in R&D/Quality. Newly married, I just wanted to pay some bills.

Never overlook opportunities when they are given to you.

Spent a day with a supplier rep, pretty much just giving a tour. He mentioned something about our process and I turned it into a 1.3MM annual savings.

Thrown to the wolves, I took the promotion to management.

You have to learn, you have to work harder and become more frustrated and after every promotion I felt like I would never become adept, much less successful. Stuck with it. $14,850 to 6 figures.

Funny thing is, after decades, I was training/managing engineers how to do their job.
