From my research, if a Benelli semi is in your budget - get it and don't look back. Beretta makes some fine shotguns, particularly the O/Us, but IMHO, Benelli is the gold standard for semis, period.

Go with the M2. The best gun Benelli has ever made IMHO. They'll cycle anything. Plus they shoulder like a dream. I've owned original SBE's(HK's included) and SBEII's and hunted around several of each. Neither will cycle with the M2's when it gets nasty. Plus the M2's will handle the light loads better. Congrats on the upcoming new gun by the way. You'll love it

Both are great guns. It’s whatever you feel more comfortable with. I just got the SBEIII in a .20 ga but have shot the Beretta A400. It’s just as good to me
