You're welcome to argue, just do so in a manner that makes sense.

Fine, here goes:
Jalen Ramsey is entitled to his opinion, but he has me questioning if he watched Matt Ryan at all last season, or if he’s basing his comments on the box scores, which can be deceiving.

Ryan had a terribly unlucky year, throwing 12 interceptions despite having the lowest number of turnover worthy passes in the NFL (1% of his passes) according to PFF. Ryan led the Falcons to a 10-win season and a playoff victory despite having a pass-catching core which led the league with 30 total drops. Atlanta was the only team ranked in the top five in dropped passes to make the playoffs.

It should also be noted that Ryan was a great player in the NFL before Kyle Shanahan ever got to Atlanta. He made the Pro Bowl three times before 2015 (Shanahan’s first season as the Falcons’ Offensive Coordinator), and has now thrown for at least 4000 yards in seven straight seasons. Ryan, Brees and Matthew Stafford are the only active QBs with seven or more consecutive 4000-yard seasons.

Ryan surpassed Peyton Manning last season to set the record for most passing yards in a player’s first 10 seasons in NFL history, and he’s currently on pace to one day make it to the Hall of Fame. Atlanta’s franchise QB also had his first 4000-yard season and made his first Pro Bowl appearance in 2010, a full year before Julio Jones’ arrival in Atlanta.

There seems to be a prevailing theme in Ramsey’s GQ interview of discrediting quarterbacks who throw to stellar wide receivers. Julio Jones, Antonio Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. are widely considered to be the three best WRs in the league, and Ramsey took shots at each of their respective QBs — basically calling them overrated and saying that these WRs made those QBs look better than they really are. He even used T.Y. Hilton as a basis for discrediting Andrew Luck over in Indianapolis.

Please tell me you think matt ryan is better than Brees...

PLEASE

Not at all. I've said on this board numerous times that Brees is a HOF and the best QB in the NFC South.
That's not the argument though but a complete pivot from what Ramsey said. He's entitled to think Matt Ryan is overrated. I'm entitled to think his opinion is dumb as frick based on the facts that I provided above.

But I bet he loves and respects Cam Newton.
That's stoopid! Why because he's Black like Cam?? LOL Seriously, I doubt he respects Cam Newton, a lot of players don't like arrogant, brash trashtalking Cam. He just got his feelings hurt by his ex teammate talking shite about him, and then he went to try and check this guy out personally last week when they played in a preseason game, and Benjamin wouldn't even shake his hand or acknowledge him. LOL Cam, is not a well liked player, but what you should have said is Ramsey probably loves his airheaded ex teammate Jameis "crablegs" Winston. LOL

Slow day at work for Brees. How many 5,000 yard passing seasons does Ryan have in a row?

Unpopular opinion that will get downvoted into oblivion:

I don't think Ryan is overrated. I feel like most see him between the 7th and 10th best QB which puts him in the same category as Newton, Stafford, and Wilson. Does anyone really think that Matt Ryan is way worse than those three?

Now if the narrative was that he's top 5, then I'd agree he's a bit overrated. And he was definitely considered that during his superbowl run year. But since then I think most people have begun to peg him correctly.

With that said I hate the Falcons and Matt Ryan

ETA: I may be wrong on where the general public thinks Matt Ryan is rated. But I looked at a couple QB rankings lists before I posted this and that's where they had him.

I would agree with this.

Eli’s response to Ramsey was pretty solid

Ramsey basically said Eli was a product of OBJ’s success so of course the New York media asked him about it.

Matt's expected response...

quote:

I’ve played for 11 years and so I’ve heard my fair share of trash-talking from a lot of different people. And if this stuff kept me up at night I probably wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing. So, I don’t pay too much mind to it. I’m about winning games and I’m about being the absolute best player that I can be. So, that’s kind of my thoughts on it.
