I’m sure this has been discussed, but I could not find any past topics in the search option.
Just started it, anyone have thoughts?

I just started it last night as well. Got through about 1.5 episodes. I like it. Mr. Peterson is guilty as sin, to me.
I don't like how much time they're spending with the defense. Would prefer more time with the prosecution but maybe that will come soon.

I don’t want to spoil it for you. This is one of my favorite true crime docs ever. DON’T start researching the case until your done watching.
This thing is crazy. Once it’s done start researching the other theories as to what happened.
ETA : my only comment on the doc is that jeans from the early to mid 90s were just awful. Like ridiculous clown pants level of awful.

I made it through 2 eps and lost interest. That guy is so unlikable and I found it too slow and uninteresting to go 13 episodes.

I finished it about a month ago. I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it but Jesus it takes forever. Should be 5-6 episodes.

It does start to drag towards the end and could have been shorter. A very interesting story though.

David Rudolf is a boss.

His attorney is amazing. But the guy himself is very strange. A lot of things went down in that trial that the judge allowed that gave the prosecution an unfair advantage. Very interesting but should’ve been done in about half as many episodes.

I watched something about this case last year and I can't what it is was, maybe Dateline or 48 Hours, but the owl theory was pretty fascinating. People think it's ridiculous until you actually hear the guy explain it...

I go back and forth on if he did it but this case seems like a textbook example of prosecutorial misconduct and extremely poor judicial rulings.

I don't think this is the best place to discuss that right now considering the guy who created the thread is only a few episodes in.

i disagree, i think me and some of my buddies could have all kinds of theories thrown out there to what happened, they didn't seem that creative at all. I'd focused on her drunk and taking xanax on gone from there. The defense seemed really not that crafty imo.

If anything, I think it goes to show you how much the landscape has changed regarding LGBT. Today that shite would have been tossed out the damn window after Freda Black's comments. Also I seriously doubt an all black jury would convict a gay dude even if he's white, ESPECIALLY in Durham. It goes to show you just how successful LGBT has been in pairing themselves with the plight of African Americans and social justice in general. In the late 90s early 2000s that shite would have been unheard of but now the two go hand in hand, which is nuts if you think about it. You started to see the change post 2008.

My post in the other Staircase thread from last night:
We are watching now. Fifth episode.
It's certainly dragging and hard to imagine how they stretch the original trial portion of the show out to 8 or 10 episodes, or whatever the original part of the series was.
Our biggest takeaway, other than the family being a bunch of weirdos, is that Mike looks like a complete fool smoking that pipe. Some dudes can pull it off. He cannot.
Also, if they ever made a movie about this case, here is prime candidate number one to play Peterson...
