So then it appears LSU did not have cause to dismiss him, wouldn't you agree.
-------------

They parted ways without dragging each other further through the mud. Insubordination is all that is needed to fire anyone.

If I were LSU, I would never have settled.

this could be interesting, Canada has always needed to be a HC

agree - his out of the box thinking will now be 100% on him

He could be the next big thing or NOT

I wish him the best!

The melt on this board if he has a successful season will be EPIC.

No it won’t. At least half this board recognizes LSU’s Head Coach for what he is, and won’t be surprised if Canada is successful.

I'm not understanding then. I was under the impression that if you terminate a coach for cause, and you have proof, that you are not obligated to pay them ANY portion of that contract. Isn't that the whole purpose of terminating for cause? If they mutually agreed on a number for him to leave but remaining quiet, wouldn't that also insinuate that Canada wasn't the only one acting inappropriate?

NOT having to pay may be the xpensive way out,
it may be more costly in PR and in Attorney fees than paying.

Don’t understand the love for Canada. Didn’t impress at LSU and most of hype was based on his time at Pitt using a gimmicky offense. But everywhere he has been he lasted 1-2 years. He caused big personality issues with other coaches on all staffs. Few tears were shed when he left LSU but some of y’all act like he was a messiah. I personally think Ensminger will do very well. Sheesh.

He would have been a better HC than Orgeron.

How do you know this?
Based upon his one time upset of Clemson?
The guy should have never been here.

Sure, but the other half thinks Canada was a buffoon and O is the greatest coach LSU will ever have. (I'm being facetious of course)

So many of the "give O a chance" crowd base start with a fundamentally flawed premise, that since HCs are typically charged with stepping in and correcting their coordinators when need be, then that's what O should do as well. That's fine for the majority of HCs out there that have run one side of the ball.

Doesn't apply to someone that hasn't run either side of the ball and has never proven that his interventions result in positive results for the team.

Alleva did a real number on some of our fans. Made them totally forget that Orgeron has no actual expertise in the realm of strategy.

I won't give Alleva that much credit.

I think it was a confluence of events:

1) this fanbase isn't very bright: yeah, I said it. sue me.

2) Les Miles fatigue: people got sick of winning ugly and losing uglier.

3) Louisiana's native son: for some reason, the LSU fanbase at-large seems to have selective amnesia, because no one seems to be aware of Ed O's career from 2005-2013. As far as a large portion of this fanbase is concerned, O went from working as an assistant under the likes of Jimmy Johnson and Pete Carroll, to being the interim head coach at USC. definitely nothing that happened in that time span that may have given cause for concern to giving O the keys to the program

4) America's love for a comeback story: U.S.A., the land of second chances. who doesn't want to see O get redemption after failing so spectacularly at Ole Miss. I for one would LOVE to see O show the haters he is a good football coach...just not at LSU.

Prior to the Troy game, the offense (and defense) were stinking up the joint. The offense was throttled against MSU and it was pretty lackluster against Syracuse. It was also getting penalized a lot.....It really was not until the Auburn game that the offense started to be productive....and also the defense was back up to almost full strength.

The key to this team is the defense, irrespective of the guns present or not on the offense
