No kids, just to relax. Budget is around 2500. Would like to avoid more than 5 hours of travel time to get there. Any ideas?

ACL in Austin is great if you are into music. Also Orange Beach area is great that time of year and condos are very affordable

Flying or driving?
Early or late October?

I second the Chicago rec. Easy direct flight from MSY and a good amount of time to explore. Tons of good food and plenty to see.
