OSU fans are passing that rumor around to shame the victim. There is no other reason to include those details.

Neat.

You didn't answer my question.

-McMurphy: Zach Smith abused his wife and Urban very likely knew about it.

-OSU fans: But she was a crazy drunk!

I fail to see how else that part of the rumor is relevant to the case.

Obviously.

No one gives a shite about Zach Smith. He's gone, and everyone I know is glad. Do you know of someone defending Smith?

You don't think the credibility of the witness would be relevant at all?

Nah.

I mean, why would that matter? It's not like this entire thing got started with "Courtney Smith believes..."

Possibly:

Do you think that Zach Smith abused his wife during his stint at OSU?

If you believe he did, then the question becomes did Urban know about it. The witness is irrelevant at that point.

If you do not believe he did, I am impressed with your dedication to the team.

I don't know if he did or not.

Police investigated numerous times and no charges were filed. The University was aware of the situation.

I don't like Zach Smith as a person or a coach.

It was only a mater of time before the victim shaming would begun in earnest. In this case, probably like 5 minutes after he was "put on leave" for enabling and covering for a serial woman abuser. The only thing more expected was Les Miles dropping 31 straight points on the Buckeyes to win the 07 title.

Rumor circulating the premium sites:

don't know if this is true, but it was shared with me, so I'm doing what the media would do and sharing the information without all the facts...
*Urban is looking at a 3-4 game suspension
*Many members of the University have known about both Zach and Courtney for quite some time
*They never acted on information because there was never any proof of guilt one way or the other
*Photos are from 2010 (prior to OSU) and there is no proof the harm was caused by him
*He and she are both drunks.
*She called 911 (66) times in 90 days.

She got pulled over 3 times for DUI. On each time they let her off and escorted her home.
*Each time she began crying and stated Zach was chasing her and she was afraid. Each time Zach was at practice.
*911 actually stopped sending squads because they stopped finding her credible. They came numerous times with 911 verifying Zach was engaged in Ohio State activities.
*In Zach's and her court hearing the Powell police are testifying on his behalf.
*She has come to OSU practices numerous times drunk, chasing after Zach, threatened to blow people up and other various threats.
*She never worked and when divorced lived off of Zach's child support. When Zach was fired she realized she would lose income and freaked out. She reached out to anyone. She was asking 6-figures for her story.
*They decided to suspend Urban with pay to separate the media frenzy from the practices.
*Apparently there is no proof of anything. Just two crazy people who should have never been together.

Holy victim-shaming.

To be fair to Ohio St and I am by no means on their side, the police were called at LEAST twice that we know of with no charges filed. Its more than fair to look into Courtney due to that.

I do lol at everyone that says no charges were filed exonerates him in the court of public opinion and for University Policy. That's like saying someone got a DUI but it was dropped, that doesn't mean the person didn't drive drunk. Charges are not filed for domestic violence all the time. That does not mean he is innocent. And multiple calls over many years is a sign of having issues too.

No charges were filed in 2009 either, doesn't mean it didn't happen. Do we really want to go down the rabbit hole of women who've been beaten that never report or their abuser never charged?

Its even worse if the OSU admins knew of the situation and didn't can the guy the minute the divorce went final. He was still harassing her well after and threatened to kill her, which Im sure turned up in the year long investigation.

Is that grounds to get fired? Especially if you didn't do anything to deserve the restraining order..?

It depends on your history.

And it probably wasn't Urbans call.

I am pissed we even had Smith on staff to begin with on multiple levels. Urban had a blind spot with him, no doubt.
