If you do tracking yourself make sure you have corrections based on handicaps.
There are tons of guys that can make 5 birdies in a dog fight and still shoot 95.
Corrections are maximum scores per hole depending on handicaps.
Example: maximum double bogey if you are between 5-10
Maximum bogey if you are below a 4.
8 handicap shoots 82 with 2 triples. His score correction is an 80 because he can only get doubles on those 2 holes. Those triples still count for his game and score that day but not for his handicap.
I'm sure you can look up what most clubs use for this type of thing online.

Have a qualifying tournament (or period of a few) that’s flighted after the round. From there use tournament or outing scores to determine handicap. Will be volitile early but will level out in the long run.
