NFL Thread: Eli Manning hate.. why?

On the commute from work to the bar, I was listening to Mad Dog this afternoon and they were slamming Eli and the QB situation at the NYG as the most confusing in the NFL.... I guess the media types are pissed the Giants didn't take a QB at 2, and instead took a solid RB.
As a State fan, I am generally anti-Manning, but Eli has been durable (which can't be understated), won 2 superbowls, and while he has thrown ints, he's still somewhere in the middle for NFL Qbs.
Where is this new Eli-hate coming from? Is it just NYC media, or is it national media searching for "hot takes"?
Giants fans, what do you think?
PS. I'm not saying he's the best QB, but he's certainly serviceable and not in the bottom 5.

Because people act like he isn’t a middle of the pack QB (career wise) and he shouldn’t be considered for the HoF.

Is that your bar that you want to set for your franchise? He’s been terrible the past few seasons. At some point you have to cut bait if it isn’t working anymore.

People treat him like a HOF caliber QB. He's not.

Because of Super Bowls 42 and 46.

Eli has been our starting QB for 14 years. That’s fricking phenomenal longevity. I love Eli. But I’m not blinded by my homerism. He’s never been an elite QB and has barely been scrapping the top five in maybe one year. I love Eli. We don’t have two Super Bowls without him but it may be high time to set our sets on the future. He is old. He may have a year left.
I would have picked a Qb and hope he’s our next guy for a decade. Eli been great but it’s time to look to the future. Eli gets hate because he’s never been top notch and sometimes gets treated as such bc or the name, team, and wins.

No hate but I certainly don't believe he's one of the elite QBs of all-time, certainly not the best QB in Giants history thats YA Tittle

I don't get it either. Eli is a lock for the HOF and has proven extremely durable during his career.
I say that as an Eagles fan.

His supporting cast the last two seasons has been horrible, especially when OBJ went down. OL is really bad and has had maybe worst starting LT in football (Brandon Flowers).
He’s not a check down QB and has zero escpability, so he needs time, meaning OL and RB to alleviate pressure.
He doesn’t have a fastball anymore, but it will be interesting to see how he does with a coach like Shurmur, OL upgrades, Saquon, and a healthy OBJ, and an emerging TE.
The hate is for obvious reasons - Peyton’s shadow, Manning family fatigue, derp face, NYC media, picks.

Ever bet on the Giants? And needing to cover the spread....only to have Eli give you that look after throwing a pic.

In defense of Eli, I'll just leave this here:
In 2011 the Giants had, by far, the worst rushing offense in the league. As a team, they gained 1427 yards on 3.5 ypc.
Their defense was 25th in the league, giving up 6022 yards and 5.6 yards per play.
Manning's receivers were Victor Cruz, Hakeem Nicks, and Mario Manningham. None of them had much of a NFL career outside of their spurts in NY.
When you look at the statistics of that team, it's mind boggling that they won more than 4 or 5 games, much less the Super Bowl.
One year does not a HOF career make. But given Manning's longevity and the way carried that particular team, I'm willing to deal with it.

Lots of jealously over the 2x SB MVP and future hall of famer.

He was last season, or close to it at least. I can't come up with more than 5 or 6 dudes who were clearly worse.
