I'm very new to running, along with my neighbor, and we are stumped about the pace for The Woodlands Half next Saturday.

Our longest fast run was 6 miles @ 9:03.

Our longest training run was 13 miles @ 10:27.

Our goal is to beat our LaPorte Bridge Half time of 2:15. Can we run with the 2:00:00 pace group? Should we stick with the 2:10:00 group? When we run in our neighborhood it is so inconsistent with pace because we are still learning.

You can run with the 2:00 group but don’t stick with them out of the gate. They’ll be good to pace you after the first few miles.

Based on the times you listed, and the fact that you've never raced before, I would say 2:10:00 would be a good time and a nice accomplishment. At that time, you would have cut 30 seconds a mile off your previous longest run. Keep us posted as to how you do.
