The only way he gets to keep his job under that policy is if he can prove that his actions prevented immediate harm to the employees or the customers on the premises... Given the guy stole a handgun, you might could reasonably argue that his actions prevented someone from getting hurt...

However, big box store will not want to do the right thing because they think it will encourage all of their other store managers to do something similar... They are paralyzed because they are too big...

Exactly. It’s a liability issue. If they green light it, they have to pay millions if it goes wrong.

I blame the insurance companies.
