What does decriminalization do to exacerbate any of that? What do you think the economic impact is of holding millions of junkies in our jails?
So you advocate no penalties for Doctors who prescribe way too much narcotics to people? There is nothing positive economically from putting junkies in jail, but lifting penalties and making it easier for them to get their fix and go further down that wormhole isn't a good answer either.

Another weed thread. Yay.

Give it all away. Darwin will take care of the losers. I'm tried of dope addicts stealing shite out our neighborhood.

By your logic, we have an issue with the already legal chain migration system and lottery system, so why not let everybody in, right? I mean, let's just compound an issue because if we allow some of it, we have to allow all of it.
This is not my logic, but it’s absurd to apply someone’s beliefs on drugs to a concept like immigration. They aren’t comparable.

What they fail to recognize is that it's a public safety issue. The "do what you want with your own body" is correct; however, the problems arise when people "doing what they want to their own bodies" are high and causing chaos and havoc on those around them as a result of the drugs, thus infringing on the rights and well being of others. Anyone who says this is not the case is either ignorant by lack of any experience or willfully so, and I bet it's the latter.
On top of that, the damage that is done to families is tremendous. Take away the horrible actions those on drugs do directly to others, they are also causing massive stress and terrible situations to families. Talk to anyone who has addicts in their family and you will see this is always the case. I have it in mine, and the damage is intense.
Freedom is not absolute once it becomes license.
The legal system already has a mechanism for dealing with those who commit crimes while intoxicated. This is a completely separate argument and has very little to do with the broader question of legalization.

Period. Prohibition doesn't work. All it does is create criminals.

Agree in principle. But we live in an entitlement society so we have to pay for the consequences of these people’s free will.
No legalization until consequences arent paid for freely
Probably the best argument against in this thread.
You shouldn’t have the right to receive government assistance if you sit at home high on dope all day.
This should apply to tobacco and alcohol too. Government assistance shouldn’t pay for or assist you in paying for vices.

Legalize ownership and drug test usage. If you have a drivers license you’re tested. Receive a government check and drug tested. Most major corporations would drug test as well.
Make the product cheap and take the money out of the cartels. But make it limited in its use to the public.

According to the department, 21.2 percent of Colorado high school students surveyed in 2015 had used marijuana during the preceding 30 days, down from 22 percent in 2011, the year before voters statewide approved recreational cannabis use by adults 21 and older. The first state-licensed retail outlets for legalized pot actually opened in 2014. Nationwide, the rate of pot use by teens is slightly higher at 21.7 percent, the study found.
Vs.
Traffic fatalities linked to marijuana are up sharply in Colorado

The fundamentals are the exact same, your stance on drugs (if I understand your post correctly) was if we allow some of something, then we should allow all of something.
It doesn't work, IMO, with drugs, immigration, or anything. There has to be a line somewhere between "allow none of it," and "allow all of it."

It’s almost like different issues need to be looked at differently. There’s no one size fits all solution.
This comparison is stupid.
My post was referring to the absurdity of saying more addictive drugs need to be controlled since tobacco and alcohol are extremely highly addictive and are in nearly every store in every city.

So you advocate a stance of all or nothing?

When things become legal, they tend to become more accepted. So yes, I think herion use would explode.
There's no evidence of this.
How's the war on drugs working out?

I support making all prescription opiates completely illegal, prison sentence for vicodin and stuff like that, life penalty or just death penalty for heroin. Maybe we can send all the heroin users to Puerto Rico or something if we decide killing them isn't moral enough

I advocate a stance that the government shouldn’t tell me what I can or can’t consume.

Pretty simple concept. Gay marriage was legalized, did you come out of the closet and marry a guy just because it was made legal?
