LSU seemed to fix the problem a few years ago when I switched from AT&T to Verizon.
Not perfect but much much better.

Spinoff of the other in game experience threads, but what can be done about this?
Every time I go into the stadium my internet and service goes to shite. This seems like one of the tangible things we can actually improve on. Thoughts?
Instead of using the router that the provider gives you get a nighthawk off of amazon

Too many phones connected to the towers. Without 200,000+ people in and around the stadium the service is good there.

Fun fact: the stadium is actually used by the State Police as some sort of broadcasting & reception site. (fans don’t get to access that network)
As others have said, the issue is that the cell service providers would have to seriously beef up their towers in the area to improve reception. And they aren’t likely to do that so that fans get better service and more bandwidth for 6-7 days out of the year. Keep in mind that the stadium holds a little more than 102,000, and that there may be 10,000 people working in and around the stadium, plus many more fans outside, and there’s still the residential population in the area that have nothing to do with the game. By itself, a sell-out stadium is larger than the population of every city in the state, save four (New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Shreveport, and Lafayette). I simply doubt that anyone is going to build up the network in the immediate vicinity that can carry as many calls, texts, streaming, etc. as would be needed to improve reception for 84 hours out of the whole year.

Oddly enough this came up as top item a few yrs ago in a survey LSU did on game day experience and fan attendence. This was probably around the new SEZ opening time period. So the feedback was there but nothing has been done about it

In the study that was referenced in my reply above it was mentioned that the carriers have the ability to bring in mobile cell tower trucks. The big issue here is someone would have to pay for that

Two words: Free. WiFi.
It's pretty common place in many large stadiums these days, no reason (besides being cheap) LSU can't do the same in TS, the PMAC and Alex Box

Spot on!! I’d just like to be able to send texts and make calls. I don’t give a shite about the nonsense social media

Well said.
I would like to see them install blocking towers.

You're talking about a stadium that up until 2017 still had CRT TVs in the south endzone concourse. You want unimpeded high speed internet too?

Yes I would like texting ability but mostly I like to keep up with ESPN and other sports apps during the game

One day you guys are going to realize that the answer to a problem is not discounting the fricking problem.
It is not discounting as much as prioritizing. Of all the things that I care about on gameday this is WAY down the list. I want a great product on the field first. After that, I want adequate security and safety. Way lower after that are things like adequate concessions and restrooms. WAY below that is the ability to subjugate myself to a small electronic device so I can inform the world everytime I fart. And if folks were just checking scores that would not cause a bandwidth problem. It is the social media use that does it.

Not a tech guy but the problem is they block all cell service except for the one who is the "official sponsor" of Tiger athletics. I believe that is Verizon.

Yeah, no. They offer better Verizon, obviously, because of the additional infrastructure built by Verizon. But they do not break FCC rule and federal law by "blocking" another carrier.
