Gore is your classic case of what baseball calls a stat compiler. He's good for an uncommonly long period of time and by the end of it you look up and see a very impressive resume without ever having thought of him as among the best in the game at any given time.
Now some would argue that such consistently good production over such a long period of time can substitute for being great over a shorter period of time. That's just not how I view the Hall of Fame though. I would say that you've got to be one of the most fearsome players at your position. I don't remember ever dreading facing Gore. Just more like you look at a roster and see Gore at running back and think, "Yeah, that team is solid at that spot."
I absolutely believe he will be in the Hall of Fame. I wouldn't vote for him if I had a vote though. I'd lean more towards the Gale Sayers type who absolutely captivated the football world's imagination for an albeit shorter time.

So would a guy like Priest Holmes be one for consideration? There were few better than him for period of time. He has over 8,000 rushing yards (close to Craig), over 11,000 all purpose yards and close to 100 total TDs rushing and receiving.

Except baseball is baseball and football is football.
For Frank Gore to still be out there as a 35 year old RB is amazing.
The average shelf life for a RB is like 3-4 years.
