Not only is the line smallish, averaging only 310 pds. as opposed to Florida and Georgia ave. about 330

This is a weird data point to harp on. The Cowboys’ offensive line, who are pretty good, average 306.2 lbs. The Saints’ O line comes in at 313.8 lbs. Think about how massive Peat is—he weighs 313 lbs.

I don’t think having an O line weighing 310 lbs. as opposed to 330 is an indication of anything. In fact, I doubt that extra 20 lbs. can be anything other than fat, which makes a lineman a little harder to push off the line but much less mobile. I’m good with a group who are big, strong, AND mobile over just big and strong every day of the week.

yep, it seems like everybody on here knows more about coaching then the coaching staff does. I guess they got in the wrong profession.

No, you are not alone.

The biggest question is at tackle. Which can make or break an OL squad.

Many question the C; it's an open question, but not a pressing "issue" in my mind. With Lewis coming in and Ingram solid as of the end of last year, it frees up options. We won't be going with the last man standing is one way of putting it.

I think you're putting a little too much on weight. Firstly, 2 of the starters by end of year (Charles, Ingram) were freshman and one would expect their numbers to go up after a full year of S&C. Secondly, unless you're flirting with a sub-290 number, it's just not that big of a deal in CFB. Thirdly, I'll take a nimble & strong 295 lb OT over a not so nimble 330 lb OT any day. Yes, you want a 330 lb AND nimble OT (Charles!)... but if you have to choose the choice is obvious. Fourthly, if you leave out the freshman Cole Smith and Charles (firmly an OT now) our average weight of interior (only) lineman is just a hair under 320 anyway.

We have depth, as insinuated above, as it stands now, on the interior. Lewis will probably be 2nd to Burrow for the most significant transfer the last two years. Tackle, uh... not so much. We need Deculus to be ready and THEN if something magical happens to Traore or Savage has developed with a big jump, we'll have "adequate" depth at Tackles. Is there an outside shot at Campbell moving to OT AND being skilled enough for it? Yes. But we can't count on that (I want them to seriously look at that).

You’re forgetting (or just not listing) Magee at tackle. I thought he looked good at RT at times last year. I can’t see Campbell playing outside.

It’s a bit disheartening to hear that Traore doesn’t really have the quickness for tackle though.

I actually did forget him, not just not list him.

With what's going on with the tackles... who knows. He might be our starter. He is good enough to be in the rotation. Frankly, he's very versatile, he can sub in at any position, including C (he's spent some, if very little, time there). Every team needs a Magee.

And shame on me... I consistently forget about him.

I somewhat agree. But we have depth. Which could be the difference in the big games. The transfers with game experience will have to step in and step up.
