I'm in NC, so I've done outings in Southern Pines and Myrtle. Both great golf areas.
What are some other golf mecca areas with an endless list of courses?

Myrtle beach can’t be beat with quantity and quality. It sounds like you are in the best area in US.

Scottsdale and Florida have what seems like a million options. Both are extremely hot in the late summer though.

Long Island
Seems the courses there are limited as many are private, but I also don't think that area compares to the number of courses in my area.
Over 100 courses in Myrtle, prolly close to 50 in Southern Pines.

So were you asking about good golf areas or just wanting everyone to tell you that you live near the best?

Long Island has the greatest collection of top golf courses in the world. Unfortunately they won’t let me play them.
Best public area? I have no clue.

For accessible courses, Myrtle and the Southern Pines area are both near the top.
Phoenix/Scottsdale has a boatload of good courses if you're willing to pay a little bit.
Western Michigan during the summer has lots of really high quality tracks, many of which aren't very well known.
RTJ trail in Alabama is really good and publicly accessible.
Wisconsin, obviously, has Whistling Straits (x2), Erin Hills, Blackwolf (x2), some great courses around Madison, and some others that aren't as well known but are very high quality. Wisconsin is probably a bit unusual in that 8 of Golf Digest's top 10 courses in the state are publicly accessible, and 3 of those have hosted major championships.

For public golf, the best areas (according to rankings) are Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Pinehurst area and southern Cali/Monterey peninsula ...

Naw, just wondering if there's other locations similar. Not bragging because I dont take advantage of my area.

Wisconsin pretty solid too with the addition of Sand Valley (same developer as Bandon) added to Kohler (Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run) and Erin Hills... long days with great weather in summer.
