It was pretty rigorous. I think over 50% of the class dropped it or failed. It was the method they used to weed out inderclassmen. What did I miss ? Please be specific . I want to make sure this is about the science, and not just your highly emotional and agitated Melt.

Did they all speak English?

11/10 melt.

I see that an introduction to the idea that human ethics and or human spirituality are part of the abortion discussion is new to you. I took courses in those too. It’s part of being a well rounded student and human being, and part of the Western tradition for thousands of years. You approach an issue from multiple angles and apply the Socratic method to the premise being discussed. Did you miss those courses by chance? They don’t offer that at DU University?

Nope, but those things have no value to me in this discussion. You're also the one who wanted to focus on biology after I called you out for your meltdown.

Those have no value in this discussion, either. I'll let you guess why that is the case.

Funny. I'm sure LSU has a wonderful program...

I’m enjoying both your Melt and your demand that you be allowed to remain ignorant of the ethical and spiritual questions related to abortion. I support your God- given right to know less than your peers. If ignorance is your strength, you should stay committed to it.

I'm ignoring those, actually, because I don't care. I thought I was pretty clear about that. I don't know how I can be any more direct about it. Ethics are subjective and spirituality differs from person to person. Neither are anything that I find useful to the discussion.

Good for you . Again, I support your absolute right not to be a fully- formed human being. A lot of people make their decisions on partial information, and I’m happy that is enough for you. Bringing less to the table ethically or spiritually is not a crime.

Agreed.

Especially those who would rely on ethics and spirituality to make their points...

I hope this holds true the next time some black kid dies while reaching for his driver's license.

Excellent. Your formal renunciation of ethics and spirituality is confirmed and noted. I'm glad you allowed me to walk you through that.

This is quite the sweeping generalizaiton. I've only pointed out to you how useless it is to bring those topics up in this discussion. I'll note again that this is after I called out your melt, after you tried to switch to biology, and after you switched back.

I can only explain how things work to you. I can't understand them for you.

If we got rid of welfare for kids and didn’t force doctors to treat crack babies at gunpoint we wouldn’t need abortions because the women would be scared to get pregnant

When does the part where you start "explaining things to me" begin? That sounds fun and illuminating. All you have done so far is melt about college biology courses and make the rather dubious and tragic admission that human ethics and human spirituality are not part of your abortion decision-logic.

Now that we have established that human ethics and human spirituality are not even a tiny fraction of your equation, please regale us with your exceptional knowledge of biological science. Try to keep it simple for those of us only at the college graduate level. No high-level thetan stuff. I'll wait here while you formulate an argument that wows us.

It's ongoing. Like I said, I can't understand things for you...

That didn't happen. I explained that ethics and spirituality are not important to the discussion.

Let's get that down before we move you into anything more complicated.

No need to backtrack. Own your argument.
Now educate me on biological science. I’m ’ intrigued about this next- level stuff, being just a humble State college guy. I’m sure you will change my mind. Now begin...

This isn't backtracking. This is trying to help you establish a basic foundation to participate in a useful discussion. If you're unable or unwilling to do that, we can't move on.

You began with an emotional post, tried to make a point about biology, then fell back to emotion. If you want to talk about biology, admit that your emotion and subjective ideas about ethics and spirituality are irrelevant to the discussion. I will not accept a simple deflection of that point, because it's an important one if we are to continue.

I will consider that the post in which you informally repudiated intellectual honesty. And I was so looking forward to learning about biology. Very disappointed.
