Just football players?

What about women’s soccer and tennis? They’re athletes and represent the school as well. Track and Field? Lacrosse?

Sure. But if they are getting paid then no more scholarships. Make them pay for room and board, books, tuition, food and other advantages athletes get that are not available to other students (specialized study halls, athletic training).

Add the services/benefits college athletes receive, it is a pretty good bit of money.

The COA at Rutgers is $50k per year. It’s not these schools fault if a player doesn’t take advantage of the massive advantage that is a debt free college education.

1. Players get paid a cost of living fee now, not to mention the worth of their scholarship if you’re a scholarship player. Meals and gear too.

2 I’m fine with players being able to grab endorsement money

3. Schools should not pay players anymore than they are already currently getting. Maybe Michigan can get away with it (though doubtful), but schools like Rice can’t.
