It was a very long shot to get either Amite kid from the beginning. I hope everyone knew that.

That place has absolutely no allegiance to LSU and Devonta Smith is a damn hero to them after the National Championship.

I want both, but would much rather Sophser if I had to choose. Orgeron knows the optics will be really bad if he loses Sophser to Alabama, for a multitude of reasons. Because of this, we can assume he will bust his fricking arse recruiting him. If we don't get him, it won't be for lack of trying.

this is it in a nutshell. but signing a recruit is not just about hard work. and that applies to saban and every other coach also. some guys are just going elsewhere; how many OOS guys do we sign? I would like to think that Sophser is his own man and will not cave in to the bama allegiance that part of the state seems to have but who knows?

the best thing for LSU to do is to recruit other quality guys also. it has been proven by both Miles and Orgeron that we are attractive OOS. as good as this guy is I think LSU can and will field very strong DL's as long as Orgeron is here. miles and Chavis let brick haley handle DL recruiting too long and his second place finishes decimated our DL. I don't care how good one player is there are others just as good or almost so. with the exception of QB missing on one guy should not seriously affect a program.
