How the frick can a city of 10,000 people not have a single grocery store?...

More like 5,000. Also:

quote:

The median income for a household in the town was $19,331, and the median income for a family was $27,857. Males had a median income of $22,417 versus $20,842 for females. The per capita income for the town was $8,903. About 30.1% of families and 40.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 48.4% of those under age 18 and 13.6% of those age 65 or over.

What percentage of their sales will be EBT?

None this week.

They aren't accepting EBT yet, which to me is dumb. They won't make much money until they do.

Ironically the city leaders are talking about the sale tax boost but if most of your sales are EBT then the city won't be getting much in sales tax

More ironic that their supermarket is named like a strip club.

The age distribution of the population is: 13.4% under the age of 18, 54.9% from 18 to 24, 12.8% from 25 to 44, 11.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.8% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 22 years. Both the age distribution and median age are typical of college towns. For every 100 females, there are 84.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.9 males.

So the city is a majority poor college students. But are they really "poor" or do they just not have a lot of income (typical of college student).

Also, if a lot of these kids live on campus, there might not be a real need for a grocery, if they are eating in the dorms and buying stuff from stores on campus.

Transient college students are not figured into that census data.

Funny side story: When we were 16 my buddy had a charge account at Snowman's liquor in Grambling, the legal drinking age was 16.

We wore that place out

I’m sorry that your “band” is boring AF and no one stays in the stands at halftime to watch them...

So half the town is college student age, and that doesn't count boarders?

Spoken like someone who knows nothing about music. Musically their band is god-awful. But I guess fancy horn flashes and playing notes as loud as possible is what you consider a “band” lol
Kind of like that famous h.s. band in New Orleans, where half the kids don't even have mouthpieces in their instruments when they march parades.

Hmmm might have some fires right before audit time.
