while their is truth to that, its more to do with GM being such cheap bastards they wont do like other manufacturers and spend $15 more per vehicle to use LED bulbs in all the lighting. THAT is the real issue

It is the socket that burns up, and it is a common problem with GM trucks. Had to replace one of mine a few years ago. It cost about 30 bucks if I recall for a cheap little plastic light socket. I started to tell them no thanks but stuff like that just bug the shite out of me.
