True. I recall most/all of his extra base hits either right center gap or LF/RF line.

Usually when he hits a double to right center...it doesn't even make it to the fence.

He's a very low strikeout hitter. He works counts. He puts pressure on the infield. I'd love him at leadoff. But PM wants a true doubles guy hitting first for some reason.

PM wants Dup to hit 2nd or 3rd so he can have more opportunities to hit & run with Dup at the plate since he makes contact a lot. He aint going to hit & run wit da leadoff batter too much.

Here is my line up:
1)Smith 3B
2)Turang SS
3)Dup RF
4)Cabrera LF
5)Watson CF
6)Bryce Jordan 1B(If Nick Webre would have stayed I think he wins this spot)
7)Beloso/Willis/Garza DH(Willis or Garza will be the back up catcher and the other one will play some 1B along with Beloso)
8)Mathis C(best defensive catcher)
9)Broussard 2B

8. Mathis - C
9. Broussard - 2B

Who down voted this? Seriously, with no injuries and people playing like they should, this is what I'd bet on the line up being opening day

I doubt PM would put 4 lefties in a row, but the problem is, our best 4 hitters would all be left handed. I still think he would attempt to break up the left handed bats a bit. Maybe something like:

1. Broussard- 2B (If he can hit like he did before the injury)
2. Duplantis- RF
3. Cabrera- LF
4. Garza- 1B
5. Turang- SS
6. Smith- 3B
7. Watson- CF
8. Willis- DH
9. Mathis- C

Realistically, the lineup probably looks like:

1. Broussard- 2B
2. Duplantis- RF
3. Cabrera- LF
4. Garza- 1B
5. Smith- 3B
6. Watson- CF
7. Willis- DH
8. Mathis- C
9. Hughes- SS

ETA: You may actually be able to get away with 4 lefties in a row because Duplantis hits lefties so well.

Only problem with Broussard at lead-off is he doesn't walk a whole lot (his ob% isn't a whole lot higher than his AVG). If he changed that in 2019...he would be as good of an option as any though.

Technically, his ob% will be high enough if his batting AVG is as good as it was before the injury.

Doubt Turang comes to school, but that’s how I see the lineup opening day

Either would be great lineups. Still, hope it's the lineup WITH Turang in it.

I miss having the dynamic 9-hole hitter. Hughes/Broussard at 8/9 was painful. Momentum killer.

Man I miss baseball. Last Friday just seemed out of sorts with no baseball.

I’m thinking:

1- Duplantis-RF
2- Turang-SS
3-Cabrera-LF
4-Garza-DH/1B
5-Watson-CF
6-Smith-3B
7-Beloso/Willis-DH/1B
8-Mathis-C
9-Broussard-2B

DH/1B depending on what day it is considering PM and his lineup changes he’s always doing

The lineup will change about 347 times throughout the season so it really doesn’t pay to try to figure it out 8 months before the season even starts lol
