Ah. I really enjoyed his common sense programs. He made some valid points even if I didn’t agree with him. He wanted a “political fire starter”. For the longest time.
He should have been careful what he wished for.
And in reality Trump is exactly what the system needed to be turned on it’s head. Carlin just doesn’t like the messiness of it and the vessel.
He wasn’t ready to see the sausage being made. Plus he’s insulated in that California bubble.
He’s really a brilliant guy. Just a different viewpoint. He’s fairly nuanced but I think he’s letting his personal dislike cloud his vision.
I was a member of the Common Sense FB group.
Holy frick those are a bunch of liberal loonies.

I don't agree with a lot of what he says but he offers very interesting perspectives of political/societal topics. Only person left of center i'd care to listen to on a drive home from work. Very smart guy but when it comes to trump he's anna navarro.

Wait is there a new hardcore out?

No, i'm referring to Common Sense.

Damn. I went from 6 to midnight back to 6 really quickly.
I like his common sense podcasts and actually enjoyed this last one. I wish he could do more because I enjoy his perspective and delivery (other podcasters just cannot compare to him with the only person close is the guy on martyrmade). If he cannot detach his emotional dislike of the manner in which things are getting done instead of reporting and comparing what is getting done in the manner in which he has previously in common sense, sucks for us.

I also like Common Sense but if it's slowing down the production of Hardcore History episodes it would't bother me if he shut it down.

right after the election, on common sense podcast he was honestly afraid that we had just elected the next Stalin. he made the comparison a few times. I was disappointed. the history stuff is awesome though

I haven’t gone that far back in the common sense catalogue.
I didn’t find it until well after trump was elected. And while I love listening to ancient and modern history podcasts, I just can’t listen to a several month old current events podcast. Don’t know why

His old stuff was pretty good. Fell off when campaigns started.
I would definitely check out ep. 277 Riding Chaos to Stasis, and 270 Poking the Bear.

quote:He created a couple podcasts, the one discussed here, Common Sense, is more politically oriented. But the one I listen to, Hardcore History, is absolutely phenomenal. It’s balanced, well-researched, detailed, and you can just tell he loves history.

Over the years I’ve waited with bated breath for his pocasts as they tend to come out every six months or so.
His last one was utter garbage. Painfotainment was a disjointed mess.

I’ve said it from the beginning that Trump’s greatest marketing job was convincing people that a billionaire from NYC was an “outsider” among the elites

Egotistical yep. Imbecile absolutely not and you know it. You're just too much of a piece of shite to admit it. You are the one that'll have to live with your lack of objectivity. Do you really want to be that person? Wouldn't you feel better about yourself if you took a step back and looked at things with less irrationality?

He caters to people who don’t read. To each his own.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought this. It felt like it was thrown together from the leftovers of previous episodes.
