We are certainly better at measuring it.

We are in a state of anomie caused by culture lag, as our technology is progressing so fast that society isn't providing its essential role as the facilitator of bonds and networks which guide the socialization process, from birth to death. The breakdown of those bonds and networks can only break so much before they are reformed, and already you are starting to see new norms develop due to technology. Those norms are just remarkably impersonal.

This is a very long way of blaming technology for everything.

Why the frick would I want to do that? Even if I did, I wouldn't take someone's problems home with me.

You have a really warped sense of reality. It's alarming you think you would take someone else's problems home with you. Why would you? Normal people can empathize and relate to the issues of other people while not internalizing those issues themselves.

I'm suggesting you lack perspective to be making declarations about mental health. Your myopia is frankly alarming, and your reticence to account for other points of view indicates some mental health problems of your own.

Mental health is much more complicated than changing patterns of thinking. Depression, for example, often involves independent and dependent stressors, that cause an external locus of control. Once you add in genetic vulnerability, altered brain anatomy (like a smaller hippocampus or elevated activity levels in the amgydala), depressed neurotransmitter levels, and every other variable that makes up a human being, you have a complex disease that has no easy solution. And that's just one possible cause among many more. You might insist that you won't be censored, but at least don't be an ignorant loudmouth.

Well it is the most immediate cause for which was have some sociological evidence. To my eyes, social networks are weaker than ever before, and many people do not have support systems on which to lean. Even then, many people who commit suicide do have networks yet still show the same persistent symptoms. The biosocial perspective offers one answer, and other disciplines offer others. The culture lag, though, has been undeniable.

Agree 100%. The pressure of social media has played a major part.

Mental illness is no joke. We really need to take it more seriously as a country.

Do you think there was a time in this country when we took mental illness more seriously than today?

I won't get detailed. But you're allowed your opinion, as am I. Agree to disagree. I laughed good at you telling me I have signs of mental illness. Are you available for treatment? I'd like to talk more about it? Is your couch comfy?

Sure, and I can tell you that you are an idiot who doesn't know what he's talking about as well. You don't know anything about it, and yet you still talk. I deal with it all the time. Just trying to educate the ignorant.

Ok. Great. I look forward to you solving the problem, instead of talking about it.

I won't solve the problem by myself. But I'll try to correct ignorance when I see it. And I can both talk about a problem and try to do something about it. It's not like I'm taking people's problems home, ya know. I'm glad I have your support though!

This is BS. Nobody looks down on anyone for seeking out treatment for depression anymore.

Nah, you won't. What you do, doesn't work, as shown by the OP.

It especially rings true when you diagnose me, over the internet, with a mental illness and then also call me an idiot

I'm sure you're great at what you do though. Keep it up.

I don't pity those who committ suicide, is the farthest thing from drivel as, technology and biosocial norms jargon, is.

Haha. Right on. Your opinion has been noted, in a very lenghty notion. I'm sure your studies of mental health awareness and suicide will be the bedrock of future societal knowledge.
