I know in MLS only a couple guys will stay on when moving from USL or NASL. Is it the same in England?

Depends on a ton of factors

Size of the club, infrastructure, and how competent the people in charge are.

Ever heard of expansion? Sometimes a team from a lower level, like Orlando City, Portland, Minnesota will join MLS.

This wasn't promotion/relegation. They are were added to a league as expansion teams. Not the same.

Pretty much he same thing. Also what difference does it make? A team is being brought up to a better league, so they need to better their roster.

Depends on the Mula. Juve went down during that bribery scandal, pretty sure they kept some good players on their way back up to winning 7 in a row.

Not the same at all.

Those teams can spend the money and not worry about going bankrupt next season by getting relegated again.

That's what the poster was likely referring to. Don't be dense. Those teams were formed from a lot of the same staff and some same players as the old, lower level team.

No its not

they didn't earn their place in the league

their owners paid a franchise fee

There is a load of difference between a franchise and a club. That difference is meaningful in the American context.

Correct.

The first few years for a newly promoted club are normally used to consolidate their position in the league. In the US, the new expansion team is expected to be competing for a playoff place at some point in that period. Most American fans in the franchise model would go insane if a new team was only aiming to be just above last for two to three years.

Juve kept Buffon. Yes, prime Buffon was a Serie B player, but as said it was totally a different situation.

Really ! I remind you of teams like the Cubs,Mets,Browns,Saints...etc.etc.etc. ALL of which have gone DECADES without the slightest chance of reaching either 'playoff'/championship or even .500 levels. ALL of these are franchise model examples of how 'ownership' blatantly milked fans to no end, while still turning handsome profits from League disbursements/TV and radio deals as well as their own fans !
Relegation/promotion eliminates all of that bullshite !

Thats bc their is no real ramifications for sucking in the franchise model. There is no threat of loosing your cut of guaranteed money.

While in major soccer leagues in the world, just staying in the top divisions the first few years is huge for the tv money. The goal is to be competitive enough then move from there.
