You must have tried grinding it. Someone once told me it's faster to cut a tree down than it is to grind it from the top down, so why would I try grinding a tori?
I agree with ruzil though. Don't need it removed unless you are getting cuts on the soft tissue. If you didn't know about it before, you won't notice it later.
Their cause is still a bit of a mystery. One 'theory' is that it's because of the body laying new bone to support the extra forces from clenching. If that's the case, they may just grow back.

I really have never seen any have these removed unless there's difficulty in having dentures made or if it's causing problems. Usually don't get removed prophylactically.

Brought the lady that cleans my house to have hers done while they pulled the last of her teeth so she could have dentures put in. (We gifted her dentures for christmas) From what she says, recovery wasnt bad for her, the stitches disolved. I got her soups and soft foods to eat for the first week

It's not totally hypothetical. Just made forty, and for the first time been dealing with some trauma in the area that's taking a long time to heal. I suppose there's no way to predict how often this will happen in the future. My fear is that it will get worse as I age, and since I'm doing wisdom teeth anyway, was considering it, but the tori portion and full anesthesia sure seems like an invasive way to deal with it.

My sis-in-law had torii so big that the two sides were touching each other and food would get stuck between them. She had them removed over 10 years ago and they are BACK. So be aware that recurrence is a possibility.
Do you clench/grind your teeth? They are more common in those who do. A proper nightguard could be helpful.
