Other than housing, it's not that bad. Not nearly on the level some people think.

I only worked 6 months last year in San Jose and still made $125k, and I don't live like a pauper. Far from it. Granted, I have no intention of buying a home there, but if you have a little bit of common sense, it's not hard to get by at all.

In the units where I rent the condo I stay in, there's a 500 sq ft, one bedroom unit for sale for $495k. That's insane when you think the the place I rent, a 1100 sq ft two bedroom unit, was bought for $565k in 2015.
