LSU can hand pick their players from almost anywhere in the gulf south, an area loaded with talent. How is it possible that we are in a situation where we are running out of arms for post season? We should be as deep as anyone in the country as far as pitching is concerned.

Clearly we recruit small guys to play small ball.. which is cool, however, that doesn’t work if the players you have can’t execute small ball type plays. We can’t bunt and it seems every time we attempt a hit and run our runner is thrown out.

I don’t blame the players.. CPM seems incapable of coaching to these guys strengths. I remember in 2000 when ULL went to Omaha.. they did it on small ball and I believe won a few games.

I’m frustrated

If Hilliard and Labas were healthy this wouldn’t be as much of an issue. They were shut down last week, it’s not like we have been this thin all year

And that’s not even counting the injuries to walker and storz

Every team has injuries, but recently our injuries have hit our best starter quality talent

Ehh you could also argue that he has coached these guys to get further than they should have two years in a row. IMO his fault lies in recruiting.

Well roster limits combined with injuries is why the pitching depth is down. Next years staff will be right back on track.
HOWEVER our lack of an offensive identity drives me crazy! I'm seeing other teams this weekend with guys batting in the 5-6 hole with over 50 RBIs and we have Jake slaughter out there with 28. Are we small ball? No we can't bunt. Do we run the bases well? Nope. Do we hit for gap to gap power? Eh not really. Do we have power? No way. Do we work pitchers with toughABs? Not exactly.
I can't tell you what it is we do well on offense

This myth needs to die, because

A) We recruit ATHLETIC guys to play great defense
B) WE DONT PLAY "SMALL BALL"

There are not only 2 styles of baseball; hitting a bunch of bmobs and bunting.

It’s like 4 of LSU’s top 6 arms are hurt right now.

My 62 year old mom who hardly knows anything about baseball says we need an actual hitting coach. I told her it's currently a former player without much coaching experience, and she said "there's one of the problems".
