There seems to be >50 different ones. How is this sustainable for such a small town? Do they supply across the whole U.S.? Why do they all choose Forrest Hill?

What is Forrest Hill?

They ship all across the United States. The reason there are so many is because of consolidation of resources and pretty much the entire workforce in the area knows the business. The nurseries all work with one another and lots of time consolidate shipping if they can’t fill an entire truck. Lots and lots of ‘undocumented immigrants’ living 15 to a trailer there too.

This much is correct.

There are clusters of tree farms/ nurseries all over the country. There are a bunch around McMinniville, Tn I used to have to go to. It makes it convenient for contractors/ landscape architects who have to go tag trees and shrubs for specific projects and makes shipping more efficient.

I’ve seen places like that in other states too. Nurseries all group together like that in the middle of nowhere.
Appears that way. Place wouldn’t function without em. Americans are above that kind of work.

You can save a ton of $ if you go. Just a few plants...not really worth it IMO but its a little drive for me. For instance...boxwoods were 5$ there and $15 in lafayette for the exact same thing.

People come from all over to buy plants there. My cousins owns a large nursery there and I actually got to meet Chad Ogea at their place. He was/is a landscaper in Lafayette and would come up and buy plants from them. But as another poster said, they ship all over the US. My best friend when we were growing up, family owned a nursery. His dad would send 18 wheeler loads of plants to Florida all the time. He would throw a few sacks of crawfish on there, too. Also, some of the nurseries in Forest Hill supply places like Lowe’s and Home Depot. And most nurseries specialize in certain types of plants. And all of them know what each other grows so there is a lot of referencing and “I have this and that but you need to go see this place for the last two things on your list” type of business going on.

I accidentally passed through that place last week. I had heard there were a lot but didn’t expect that many

Because we allow them to be.
Get rid of welfare for healthy people and get rid of the illegals and you can bet people would take those jobs if their choice is to work or starve.

Actually, there are a good bit more than what you see...there are a hell of a lot of nurseries scattered through those hills. Many of them are totally wholesale and send truckloads all over the region. The nursery festival also happens in the spring...at that time, the place is just overrun with people buying truckloads of plants for their yards. You can save some serious cash there, if you are into such a thing.

I've driven through the area and always wondered how many of those nurseries sell retail.

I went to forest hill for plants a month or so ago. It was absolutely amazing. Will be going back every spring moving forward. It’s worth the drive.
But yea they send plants all over.

The main thing to know about that town is the speed trap where it drops from 45 to 35 going around the corner toward the towns sole bank

Some of them I believe you have to have a landscapers license but a lot are open for public... we like Doug Young’s
