You might be underrating him a little bit. He was second string as a redshirt freshman, and then moved to third string last year at least partly because he broke a bone in his throwing hand in fall camp. So he came in behind a multi-year starter (Barrett) who set a lot of school and conference records. Then he was, by all accounts, neck-and-neck with another very promising young player to take over the starting position. And to my knowledge, no one knows that he lost that battle. It could very well be that the OSU staff didn't make a decision in the spring, and Burrow didn't want to roll the dice any longer.

Just to follow up on the above a little bit, as an OSU fan with an unhealthy college football obsession who came over here to see what you guys were saying about Burrow, I think he's going to be good. Possibly very good.

I’ve posted this before, but an LSU coach has only lost four games THREE times since 2001.

2002
2008
2014

Those are all rightfully viewed as disastrous seasons for the coach.

Losing 4 this year would be no different for this coach.

I find it incredible that he wasn't named the starter. He was the only QB in either LSU or Ohio State spring games to complete over 50% of his passes. In fact Burrow was 15-of-22 in the air (68.2%) for 238 yards with 2 TDs as well, against 0 INTs. Burrow also ran 3 times for 8 yards.

But Burrow has consistently put up numbers like that, throughout his football career. He's only thrown two interceptions...ever.

Burrow saw action in 10 games during his Ohio State career, completing 29-of-39 passes for 287 yards and two TDs. He also rushed for 53 yards and a score. He played in five games last season, completed 78.6 percent of his passes - 22 of 28 - and threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns. He never threw an interception as a Buckeye QB.

It was probably a tough call. Burrow's competitor for the starting spot had the only chance, between the two of them, to play on a Saturday when the game was still on the line. And he did great. I think it was just a situation where there were two good guys who would start most places competing for one spot.

I’d say UF and A&M are definite wins.

MSU and Miami I probably have us at 60:40 now. So probable but not definite wins.

I think we are now 50:50 at Auburn and vs UGA.

And 45:55 against Bama. The only reason I give us these odds vs Bama is because we are bound to win one eventually.

That’s fair Bert.

Although I would say if O loses again to MSU in Tiger Stadium before a two week break before Bama, things are going to get ugly.

That should be an 80:20 game imo.

He needs to win that game just to keep positive momentum going into the bye week imo. It is a critical game for him and the team

None. We haven't seen the guy play in purple and gold, yet. We haven't seen the guy play under Ed Orgeron and Steve Ensminger.

Don't crown his arse until we see how badly those two handle someone who seems to be a really good player coming in.
