No fan base is like LSU’s, our fan base broke the mold

"Here’s the thing. I am in no way certain that he (Joe) didn’t beat out Haskins. When I watched the spring game this year, what I saw was Joe Burrow with a better command of the offense, better decision making and better leadership. And the throws he made were not that much more insignificant than Haskins’.

I watched the OSU spring game highlights and agree with this. I thought he was the best QB in that game. An OSU fan added that Burrow is also not just a passer but their dual threat QB. Based only on what I saw in that game and given the chance to pick any of the three QBs, I would have picked Burrow.

All this tells me is that OSU's fan base is a lot like LSU's. The backup QB is ALWAYS the best player on the roster.

Burrow would have been my 1st choice too, he’s both runner and passer not a sitting target.

I wonder why head football coaches are willing to risk their jobs by not playing the best players especially quarterbacks?

Les Miles should be able to answer that for you.

If their fan base is like ours, [the fact they thought Burrow was their best QB] doesn’t excite me much.

The OSU fanbase is certainly like the LSU fanbase (or any other large group of people) in that there is no single opinion on any question, including whether Burrow or Haskins was the better option. I would guess that, among the subgroup who pay attention to things like this, it would be something like 30% slightly favored Haskins, 30% slightly favored Burrow, 40% felt they hadn't seen enough of either to have a meaningful preference, and thought either was a good option.

Urban was trying to string them both along by not naming a starter in an effort to keep them both. He did the same thing with Barrett and Jones after the national championship. So Joe Burrow was not a failed quarterback looking to run away. He knows how good he is and wants a chance to prove it. He gave Urban a chance to name him the starter and when he didn’t he had no choice but to find a place that would. Urban wouldn’t make a decision so Burrow made it for him. Burrow was a Tom Herman recruit. Haskins was an Urban Meyer recruit that he personally flipped from Maryland. Tom Herman is gone and the entire offensive staff is different now. I don’t think he could trust the current staff with his career.

Yep, this makes a lot of sense. Joe knows he should be starting due to talent and seniority. He can't trust the current OSU staff and CUM. Having posted that Haskins is a stud and should do great things for the Buckeyes. Just that his time could have waited a little longer in certain folks' eyes. This could have been Joe's time in Columbus. But it will not be the case - his destiny is now in Baton Rouge and Tiger Nation cherishes it!!!

Yall don't find that meme extremely overused?

I mean I can see how it is fitting as a response to certain things, but it doesn't exactly apply all the time..

I don't see why people keep using it. I don't think I've seen a meme get so regularly downvoted

Our lowest common denominators are sub human filthy garbage. One of the worst underclasses of fans anywhere. I love LSU and our Tigers. I LOATHE a certain section of our fan base. I respect the most homeristic Bama fan who does not talk trash (yes there are some of those who exist including two good friends of mine) 1,000 times over the dregs in our fan base.

Sounds like he'd fit in well among our fanbase

Urban Meyer is a great recruiter and developer of QB’s, he was put in a position of having to let one of his prized QB’s go.

Urbana loss is LSU’s gain, it’s that simple
