They have talent at corner it's just not experienced.

Vincent was a top 10 corner coming out of high school and kelvin Joseph was rated as a top 5 corner for a while.

Kirklin looked solid in the spring game and Eric Monroe will be good at the nickel.

I think RB is a bigger mystery than corner where you have an All American already on one side.

We were preseason #4 team in the nation for 2011. We were supposed to be good. The concern was actually the schedule which included #2 Bama, #3 Oregon and a good WVU team.

We were preseason #4 and we had ZERO players on the Preseason All-SEC teams. None.

And we’ve been very fortunate with freshmen corners in previous years. Let’s hope another one steps up.

Wrong.

1st Team Defense :

2nd Team Defense :

Barkevious Mingo
Ryan Baker
Tyrann Mathieu

3rd Team Defense :
Sam Montgomery

2nd Team Offense :
Rueben Randle

3rd Team Offense :
Alex Hurst

ETA: This is why I don’t have much faith in opinions on tRant. Some people don’t even know what they’re talking about.

Montgomery DE

Mingo DE

Minter MLB
Barrow LB
Hatcher LB

Claiborne CB
Simon CB
Brooks CB
Mathieu CB

Ried S
Taylor S

Why anyone would listen to the rant worried about that defense

I like our defense this year as well. We find a young guy to lock up that CB2 spot and I think we’re in a really good position.
Little early to proclaim them the best in the country is my only argument.

I would say he's being obtuse. As others have said, we have a potential All-American at corner back, a grad transfer, a former high 4* fifth year guy in Ed Paris and handful of former 4* sophomores who will get their chance to shine. True a lot of them are unproven, but you know who else was unproven at this time last year? Greedy Williams. And he showed out in week one and kept it up all year. It's not that far fetched to assume that at least one or two of the great athletes that we have available will be able to do the same this year.

As for RB, yeah, we are really thin, obviously, but we have a ton of play makers on offense. It's up to the offensive staff to put those guys in position to make plays.

But that's just Guilbeau's shtick. To spew a bunch of negative nonsense and call it objectivity.

Glenn very rarely has much good to say about LSU and it's because he knows that's what sells.

He's a troll

Plus he's really bitter he got his arse shipped up to Shreveport from the Advocate and lost his open door policy in the athletic department.

Guilbeau himself picked us to go 11-1 in 2011 (with a loss to WVU) and if I’m not mistaken, predicted that we’d win the NC. Of course he did it in the most GG smarmy a-hole way in his prediction article, but he was high on that team.

Guilbeau is a tool. Defensively LSUis as talented as ever.

The offense is down at RB but up at WR and TE. The OL should be good and with Burrow the QB position is going to be better than it has been since Matt Flynn.

I don't agree with Guilbeau at all.

While GG is exaggerating as always, this is about as 'pie in the sky' as you can possibly get.

RB - WAY down from normal
WR - talented and extremely unproven
Burrow - simmer down a bit

Glenn Guilbeau is one of the biggest LSU sport writer hacks of ALL TIME! If you are a nega-Tiger then he is your man. If you are an intelligent individual and want to read REAL UNBIAS journalism about LSU sports then I would refer you to other sports writers on the LSU beat.

Glenn Guilbeau has fallen into the trap of wanting "clicks" so badly that he has completely forgotten what unbias journalism is. He has now polluted his mind so much and wants to be famous so much that he has forgotten to be objective when writing articles about LSU. It is truly a shame also as he probably is a talented sports writer but one would never know it because of the dribble that comes from his desk. He knows that if he writes negative articles about LSU from a sports writer that lives in Louisiana he is going to get "clicks" so he has taken is vaudeville act to a zenith of negative comments regarding LSU not understanding the simple that even when things aren't going well at LSU, the University is still our beloved LSU Fighting Tigers. And it is not like we don't want people to write negative articles on LSU when it is justified, it is that we want the writers to be fair and balanced and not biased. GG is the epitome of BIAS against LSU.

He has gone off the rails so blatantly with his bias of LSU after Saban left that I don't even read his articles anymore because it is the same old dribble time and time again - "LSU will never be the LSU of old and everyone is inferior to Bama"

He is a HACK, quit letting him give you bait to click on!!! Watch and see how quickly he changes his tune and how great LSU is if you quick clicking his articles. I can promise you, do that for 6 months and watch how fast he changes his tune.

A 2011 analysis of LSU

Man, you guys are dumb. You make a crap statement like everybody was predicting 6-6 in '11 and you have to search hard to find one person that thought LSU was gonna lose their first game to A TEAM THAT PLAYED IN THE NC GAME THE YEAR BEFORE! Not even a year. 9 Months before that.

If LSU opened with GA would you think they'd win? Do you think any single talking head would think they'd win against Georgia if they opened with them? Of course not.

quote:

I think LSU overachieved last season and lacks the mature talent to win it all this year.

This is what the guy said. Not 6-6. Oh, by the way, they didn't win it all that year.

According to 247 sports UCF rankings were (61,2014),(72,2015),(76,2016),(51,2017) and UCF went 13-0 in 2017.But LSU is in trouble and has no talent with (3,2024),(4,2015),(3,2016),(7,2017).What does it all mean. I think a lot of people are talking out the side of their necks. There is way more talent than people assume on a yearly basis.

show me where I said that.

Sad part is, I was partially agreeing with you.

Wow I don’t sugarcoat and I’m not a blind homer but that is nowhere near true. I don’t get why he says something like this. Woefully uninformed?? Isn’t this his job? Not sure how you can claim to know the roster or the team and then say something like this. He’s always been this way it seems. Does he have an axe to grind with LSU or something.

Guilbeau has based his career around shitting on LSU. They used to tell players to be very careful when talking to him, because he was going to make the story negative no matter what.

GG enjoys reporting negatively about LSU, loves to stir the pot and is mentally deficient. Take away ALL of Guilbeau's faults and he is still terrible. My $00.02

You’re being emotional, he’s being objective. My link below is a thread showing returning production. LSU ranks 122 in the country. If you’re being objective and ineltellectually honest, you would see that he’s probably right and that this could set up as a rough season due to inexperience. 2019 should be much different.

Objective my arse. He said talent level not production. Replacing production with talent is what big programs do. The statement that LSU is the least talented they have been since Saban arrived is absolutely ridiculous and not true by any metric.
