Just asking... does anyone have a clue why all of a sudden pitching is struggling

I mean.. throughout most of the season the pitching was decent... But in the last couple of weeks, most of them has struggled. In the article in The Advocate, Hess even said, "These last few weeks, I just haven't been myself."

I'm wondering if it's mental. They are trying to throw strikes... and the more you think about it the tougher it gets. Just a thought.

Tons of big injuries. Walker hurt the worst. Lack of leadership. Unqualified assistants. It's just not our year.

Hess and Hilliard have both hit walls, it seems. Probably due to the fact that that neither of them were supposed in the rotation this way this year. Bullpen has, for the most part, fallen flat, and I’m just as much as a loss as to why as everyone else. It almost feels like in six months we’ll find out about micro tears and other injuries we aren’t being told about.

Hess has been very mediocre all year...The scouting of Hilliard has caught up to him now...Gilbert has been a bust for the most part...Pitching has not been very good all year as a whole..

And to make things really worse, they get no run support from the offense.

Cause they are average arms. LSU has always thrived with two elite pitchers. Now they have none

They only lost their entire starting rotation and infield. The Walker injury really put us in a bad place this year.

The injury argument is non valid. you have one injured starter with a below average fastball and some injured kids with no experience

Labas and Storz if healthy are weekend starters. Storz has Friday night stuff and would not be shocked if he is in that role by SEC play next year.

This is a down year and LSU will be back as a National seed next season.

The frick? Regardless of what is walkers best pitch is, he was going to be the ace of this staff and one of the best pitchers in the country, it is absolutely valid. Storz and labas were also supposed to be big pieces to this staff and they have been hurt most of the year.

Now if you want to criticize PM/dunn for not having a deep enough pen i think thats valid, its an issue for most teams though sans florida

And on a side note, give me someone like walker with a great changeup and killer control over someone who throws 95 that doesnt have that great of control

New pitchers seem to come here with injuries that don’t heal. They are done for the season before it
starts. Definitely injury to Josh Smith and Walker hurt. LACK OF QUALIFIED ASSISTANT COACHES
That is my major gripe about PM. ALWAYS WANTING EX PLAYERS AS COACHES.
Even Todd Walker talked about it during game.
They haven’t changed a thing with these players
swings, and even base running is a struggle.

Walker out the whole season
Storz basically out the whole season
Labas working his way back for 75% of the season
Gilbert's velocity falling off a cliff
