Another highly touted prospect pickup by Nikki, one who can't shoot from 3 too

Sorry but I failed to add:

At TVCC she averaged good numbers, read the Dandy Don article today for statistics.

Some believe that NCaldwellFargas is a beleaguered HC, I think that too, and this fits in her penchant for the "path of least resistance" in recruiting.

It seems that Caldwell loves to recruit players whose ego has run its course elsewhere and then she commences to rehab; she also recruited approximately 6-10 players who could not follow rules, etc. ending in large attrition numbers, not doing the management required of outstanding HC's. It's not easy and IT IS A LOT OF WORK but CFargas does not seem to enjoy hard work, look at the trends and poor recruiting.

Finally, look at this coming roster. OUR VERY BEST PLAYER CHLOE JACKSON, who herself came to LSU after a poor experience at NC State, just bolted and left LSU after graduating/or will graduate here shortly........THIS SPEAKS VOLUMES OF THE POOR COMMUNICATION MS NCF has with her players. We were all told that the HOF Assistant "..had planned to leave at the end of the 2018 season...." I do not believe this CYA-Piffle coming from our Athletic Department. It may be true, but I am skeptical, considering the overall picture Ms NCF has painted during her career at LSU.

Changes are needed in LSU Athletics and this is an imminent development. IT CANNOT COME SOON ENOUGH....

Re-Threads be damned!! Why are we not in the trenches competing with the WBB Powers in our conference and region? Answer: IT IS HARD WORK THAT OUR WBB HC DOES NOT SEEM TO ENJOY, using a Miles'ism!!

Because Nikki isn't doing her job, her recruiting is trash, literally looks like ZERO effort is put into it. We don't even make phone calls or communicate with the top players in the state every year.

She deserves all the criticism she recieves

As for Jones, he was an awful coach, no way around it, the fact he couldn't make the NCAAT with Ben Simmons on the teams speaks to his incompetence

Probably because being a coach at LSU involves taking a ton of shite. I don’t think anyone gets more shite than O and he’s “one of us”

As a sign I saw recently said:

You encourage what you tolerate.

Joe Alleva tolerates this and since it is the last year of Fargas’s contract, we’re going to “write off” this season, which of course means we’ll be further down the hole in 2019-20.

Alleva is lazy too. Hence him selling this, “We may as well go cheap in football until Saban retires”
mantra.

This lazy and lackadaisical culture set by Alleva where mediocrity is tolerated and encouraged—has permeated our entire atletic department.

I see what you are trying to do, but you cannot pull that card here. I have been an advocate for Nikki year in and out, but this is inexcusable. Recruiting still lackluster and she loses Chloe, who in my opinion, was more valuable than Moncrief-Louis last season. Add DeMoss leaving as well and this is a disaster waiting to happen. Leave race out of this and just look at facts.... she is stumbling and not helping herself.

Curious if LSU schedules a difficult OOC this year or if we will do cupcakes considering the roster we have

The fact that the last two recruits we've signed in the last month are junior college players, tells you all you need to know about the direction of recruiting for the program. You don't build championship programs by continuously bringing in transfers and junior college players.....................

This will be her last year, then they will move on and hire someone else.

I think the contract expires in 2019

Cmon man. Obviously difficult OOC with plenty of tournaments. She needs her free vacations.

This is evident. It makes threads like this pointless because they're just beating the dead horse. It's over, how many times does that need to be said?

So let me play devil's advocate since so many here are ready to throw in the towel before the 2018-19 season even begins and send Nikki and co. packing from BR. What would it take for her to get a contract extension? Top 4 finish, SEC championship? Or she has ran her course? Apparently, Alleva is still pondering this as well.

I'm looking around and the SEC is still a 2-3 team race and then everything else is still up for grabs. My redicted order of finish:

MS State
USC
Mizzou
UT-K
UGA
??UK
??TAMU
??LSU
??Auburn
??Alabama
??Arkansas
UF
Vandy
Ole Miss

Now, with the two JC kids she has signed, at least she has bigger guards to play the back of that matchup, that the players are still not great with. She has size to press, we know how much she loves that. Now, if Mitchell, Aifuwa, Farley, Pointer, Cherry can get in the gym and improve their games and the freshmen Jones can give you some baskets, I don't think this team will be unbearable to watch.
Also, if she can pull in the Clemson de-committ, who we recruited before she committed to Clemson, then she has a 5'10-'11 PG/SG as well.

And if you look around the league, A&M lost more than we did and is pulling in JC's as well. Now let's see who develops and uses them effectively and ends up with the best results.

Just my thoughts, let's way in on some positive thinking for a change.

She doesn't deserve to be, she has had plenty of time with mediocre results for the most part. No NCAA Tournament success outside of playing in BR as well. Recruiting has been a disaster, outside of Pointer (her niece) last years class was pretty mediocre too.

The matter is unless there is a magical transformation with a few players, next season will almost certainly be a disaster. When it came to playing top teams, the only 3 players who could score and make stuff happen it was Mitchell, Louis, and Jackson. Losin Jackson and Louis are MAJOR blows. I am sure they will be okay defensively but in terms of athleticism and ability to score, that will be kind of a nightmare.

A&M did lose a lot but they have Carter who essentially was the entire team last season, still talent on their team.

I would like to think positive, but outside of Mitchell, and maybe Pointer, there is a substantial drop off in ability on this team. Many of these players are not SEC Caliber. Farely still has a lot to do to just be able to be a capable body for us. As of now she is just a tall body on the floor, she has holes in her defense and is limited offensively. Mitchell when she was a freshman showed the ability to score and do stuff.

Bama will be very solid next season

Next season comes down to if the Juco players are worth a crap, if not its some serious trouble. We are just way too limited in terms of talent

Not really. Hillsman was a 15 and 8 player and basically the only reason we'd lose to them. Howard is their all time leading rebounder. Williams was 14 a game and their best 3 pt shooter. Besides Carter they return one other player who averaged over 6 minutes a game. Carter is probably gonna average 25 pts and 7 turnovers a game next season.

I agree with your assessment. In terms of athleticism, I think we will be fine besides the posts. Mitchell and Jones will be the only athletic post. The problem will remain offensively until players can become consistent shooters. Most people will attribute that to youth, being first years or redshirt (Aifuwa), which is why Nikki was given a pass and exceeded expectations in finishing T-4 this year.

Carter was essentially their entire team but if your best pure shooter and do-it-all athlete transfer, there is some chemistry issues going on there. They are beatable and I'm still not sold on Bama. They have a lot of incoming players but a tremendous JUCO guard who can score, We shall see.
