I’ve often wondered with this sets a trend for candidates going forward. Looking at the last two previous elections, fake war hero and Mittens went full on beta. And lost.

GEOTUS said to hell with that approach, went scorched earth and kicked Hillary in the balls.

I do think Trump is a very unique candidate in that he has tons of money and had clout before running. Not so sure some baw in Missouri or the like would have similar results.

This more than anything. Repubs endured 8 years of W being hammered relentlessly and never fighting back. They were so fricking tired of defending a guy who wouldn’t defend himself. Along comes McCain and Romney twisting themselves into knots not to offend Obama and refusing to defend themselves and voters like me said to hell with you. You don’t command support and respect when you let someone use you as a doormat. The only reason I started paying attention to Trump was because the man wasn’t afraid to brawl and fight back.

I think it’s likely Trump is a once in a generation candidate. The last Republican like this was Reagan.

After Trump, it’s likely the republicans return to the loser betas.
