...down by only 1 and 2 straight strikeouts.

This baseball team lacks cojones!

They do lack being clutch in a consistent basis from hitting to relief pitching to getting that last strike in an 0-2 count for out number two. Just don’t have it this year.

On another note, I was frustrated how many times Hughes led off the inning last night. That’s an automatic out to start the inning.

It wasn't just Hughes.

Our 7 (Slaughter), 8 (Broussard) and 9 (Hughes) hole hitters were a combined 0 for 9 with 5 strike outs last night.

I hate to say it this way because I do think com is a very good coach- a hall of famer- and the reference is not, but I can guarantee you there's not a chance in hell Tony Robicheaux loses those two games without getting that runner home from third. At a minimum we should have attempted to lay down a bunt. I don't understand the logic of recruiting a bunch of guys with no power but always playing for a big inning. There are fewer and fewer accepted times to bunt in a game but less than two outs, down 1, 9th inning, with the bottom of the lineup at bat is THE time to lay it down.

Not yet, thankfully.

One of them was 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored (half of our runs) last night.....

Agree 100%
Tony Robicheaux much better coach
His teams are always taught what to do in every situation.
PM needs to hire experienced coaches for hitting
and situational game day experiences
Also imo we need to do a better job of recruiting.
Yes I know we have had some studs, but would like some taller stronger kids.

I'm not convinced recruiting is the issue, we have had some unfortunate injuries.

The issue is the coaching. Yes Dunn is having a less than impressive year with his arms (but give credit to the work he's done with Hilliard).

It is our Gibbs/Ochinko/Cain triumvirate. They aren't as good as we need them to be.

We are LSU, we shouldn't be hiring coaches to learn on the job. Hire proven assistants.

It happens jackass. Astros were down by 1 in the bottom of the 9th with 2 men on base recently. The best hitter in baseball Jose Altuve struck out in 3 straight pitches.

Tony has a team with less talent and a higher RPI. He knows how to prepare his team
