Anyone make their own spinnerbaits? I am thinking about giving it a try as a hobby.

I have using someone else's machine that bends the wire. It's not hard, the supplies aren't expensive except the machine that bends the wire gauge. They run anywhere from $125 and up depending on if new or used.

Your fixing to spend some money. You will never have enough different shaped heads, wire sizes, eyes, hooks, orings, d-rings, oval rings, skirt options are in the thousands, and I haven't even gotten into blade choices.

I've modified blades, but that's about as far as I've gone. I don't really throw a spinnerbait much anymore.

I can almost never use a spinnerbait off the rack because of the huge main blades. I change that one on almost every bait I buy. An exception is Molix. I always have a bunch of Hildebrandt blades laying around.

I started making my own inline spinnerbaits as a hobby but then it turned into a small side hustle.

I think the tool to bend wiring was something like $100, then whatever you decide to spend on materials is up to you. It's cool to go out and catch fish on stuff you've made, it's even cooler to see others catching fish on stuff you've made. I still consider it pretty much a hobby.

I was going to buy the heads with the wires already bent. All I would need to do is curl the end. I am talking very basic. 3/8 ounce & 1 ounce willow/colorado or willow/willow combo and a skirt. I want white/silver, white/chartreuse, charteuse and a custom color.

You'd probably still need the tool to make the little ends, I tried without it, it's a pain in the arse.

Doesn't seem too difficult. Am I missing something?

Just watched, I misunderstood. That looks simple, I thought you were trying to make the little twisted ends like mine have on each end.

I've had the same terminators since 1994.

I need to store mine better. The rubber bands keep dry rotting.

They are, I have 4 of them. I've ordered from Ginger Avenger and will always have one on a rod.

The terminators have quick skirts that are easily replaceable. Those get replaced every couple of years, but I'm dead serious when I say my go to spinner bait is the same blades, hook, head and titanium wire from the 90's.

I have heard that from others, but I don't think they make them like that anymore.
