The best possible outcome of the current political dysfunction would be the splintering of both the Democratic and Republican parties into smaller, more ideologically coherent units.
Alas, this seems unlikely, given the power and influence of the tiny minority of elite uniparty apparatchiks that conduct the business of empire these days.
