Will be in Houston this week for a quick trip, anything special i should seek out?

Are you limiting yourself to just Italian? Downtown has many kick arse restaurants.

I like Hugo's, an upscale Mexican restaurant near downtown. Fun place, nice atmosphere and very good food. Try the duck with mole' poblano sauce.

In downtown...Osso & Kristalla. If your mind is set on Italian but not limited to downtown...Uber to Coltivare in The Heights.
Give Nancy’s Hustle in East Downtown a look...not Italian but really great menu.

Literally moved out of eado right before Nancy's Hustle opened. Been meaning to get back over there to try it out.

Had Nancy’s Hustle on Saturday evening on a whim. Would go back, no doubt.

Damien’s has a chef’s table that’s adjacent to the kitchen. If you reserve it, they cook whatever you want, you get to help cook some food (as a novelty) and wear a chef’s hat.
It’s is truly one of the hidden gems in Houston to take a date.

I ate at potente two weeks ago and was impressed. It's basically next door to minute maid.

I’d also point you to Reil, Nobie’s, Caracol-sister restaurant of Hugo’s...which for me is the best of his outposts to order off the menu...Hugo’s shines at brunch service in my opinion...Kitchen 713 is doing some good food...the Pit Room is the best bbq in the loop in my opinion-don’t miss the tacos here and if they have charred okra as a side, be sure to get that.

Potente is definitely the answer for downtown Italian. Excellent food, wine and service.

Don't think I've ever seen anyone recommend them here. Great call though. Amazing short rib, even compared to Killens.
