According to a Bloomberg story, Zuckerberg admitted that FB collects the information of non users too. Apparently part of the FB agreement that people agree to allows FB access to their contact lists and they build shadow pages for non users. Don't worry though, if you're a non user and want the info, all you have to do is join FB. Not sure how they can legally collect information on people that didn't sign up and agree to their user terms.

So, what's the problem. The non-users are accessing FB.

Free market?

Is it interesting to anyone else that Facebook started the day the pentagon shut down their "Lifelog" project, which was meant to create a complete digital image of your life using our cameras, phones, computers, etc to monitor us?

LifeLog - ended in February 2004
Facebook - Launched in February 2004

DARPA ends Lifelog (from 2004)

Any of this sound familiar?
quote:

The Pentagon canceled its so-called LifeLog project, an ambitious effort to build a database tracking a person's entire existence. Run by Darpa, the Defense Department's research arm, LifeLog aimed to gather in a single place just about everything an individual says, sees or does: the phone calls made, the TV shows watched, the magazines read, the plane tickets bought, the e-mail sent and received. Out of this seemingly endless ocean of information, computer scientists would plot distinctive routes in the data, mapping relationships, memories, events and experiences.

That isn't coincidence. Zuckerberg is an evil frick who masks his company's disgusting desire to know everything about everybody by marketing his company as cutting edge and progressive. We are proving Ted Kaczynski right every day.

Did you read the story? I don't access FB, but my wife does(no pics). FB mines the information out of her contacts. That's the problem.

I never joined. It just doesn't appeal to me. It's fine for folks that like it, but I shouldn't have my information collected by FB because I'm in users contact lists on their phone.

It apparently doesn't matter that you quit. Facebook is claiming their data is freaking "un-deletable". Also, if you didn't remove the app entirely, it has likely still tracked you if you use an Android.

It seems a fine line... if I ask to see your wife’s phone and she says yes and I snag your number and a few photos and maybe skim her messages— as long as she gave that permission do you have an expectation of the items she let me see being beyond what I can view with her consent?

Is all of this not agreed to when you update and approve the user agreements?

I guess if anyone posts a picture of you they can grab your life story in a profile.

How could it be if you're a non user?

There is no law against collecting private information except for medical. We don’t have European privacy laws.

Zuckerberg was 19 when he started The Facebook.

Are you saying the Army turned over all its files to a teenager?

Where are you guys getting this info? Zuck testified that you can delete the data and it's deleted.
