Cohen's attorney is the source for this.

The post is reporting that it was for FEC violations (stormy?), bank fraud and wire fraud. Probably means there is tax evasion in there too, maybe money laundering.

I personally think it is ridiculous to bring down a president because of payments to a porn star.

If trump colluded with the Russians, that is impeachable. It actually affects the nation

If trump paid off a porn star, that is beyond the scope of American government and governance

That's what they just said on PBS NewsHour. It was based on Nunberg's Muh Stormy testimony.

Normally yes. But this time it happened within 2 weeks of his election and the amount. That's the issue. The issue isn't that he paid the pornstar. That narrative needs to die. The fact is the SDNY is investigating now whether it was an illegal donation according to FEC.

And the overwhelming majority of FEC violations are handled via civil fines or an ADR process, not with an FBI raid.

There is a stretch. You guys are giddy. Really think you've got Trump this time don't you? Cohen committing an alleged illegal contribution is as good as y'all could come up with. In almost two years? Ouch.

and yet nobody seems interested in persuing the fact that the payments to fusion GPS and Steele were never reported to the fec

It probably was. But can I tell you something? No one gives a shite. And anyone who thinks Muh Stormy is going to bring down President TRUMP is higher than this guy

I mean you can think that, but the COTUS gives Congress the ultimate power of Presidential impeachment. I mean Johnson was impeached basically because he fired a cabinet member who Congress didn't want fired.

Clinton was impeached (yet not convicted as we all know) for lying about a whore.

and with all the other blatant corruption and conflicts of interest the FEC is the sterling above reproach shining light who would never ever come to conclusions based on political considerations

These are the facts that cannot be refuted.

- Cohen paid Stormy Daniels $130k 2 weeks before the election
- Trump claimed to deny knowing about the payment (meaning Cohen was not working for Trump as council in that transaction)
- This is a potential violation of Federal Campaign Finance Laws
- 2 Trump Appointees Signed off on this

Thus, it is not surprising that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating Cohen based on violations of Federal Campaign Finance Law.
