Hi Guys,

Heading out to our company's New York offices early next week and looking to hit a good BBQ place. Not willing to venture off the island, so curious what folks have to say about the options in Manhattan. Last time I was out there I dragged some coworkers to Hill Country and that was really good. But wondering if Mighty Quinn, Blue Smoke, Dinosaur or one of the others are where I should be heading this time around. I did check out Dinosaur here in Chicago before it shut down and liked it a lot.

I'm a big fan of beef ribs, brisket, and pulled pork is usually also a staple of my orders.

(NOTE: Before anyone says it, I am aware that Brooklyn BBQ is taking over the country)

Interesting. I would not have thought NYC was a big Q place.

I like Mighty Quinns. Ive never been to a restaurant, just had it at a couple of festivals. Their pulled pork was pretty good.

Dinosaur is decent; more of a place you just need to check off a list.

Where do you live and why is NYC a BBQ destination (for this trip at least) for you?

Mighty Quinn's is legit (for NYC BBQ), I guess.

By nature of its size there are a decent number of options and a lot of them are well trained pitmasters because they wouldn't survive otherwise given the plethora of dining options. But of course in true New York fashion everything is more expensive.

I live in Chicago, but heading to our main office in New York on Madison Ave.

Why BBQ? I just like it. I'll be expensing it so I could go fancier, but I don't need that. Good Q, a TV, and a good old fashioned or beer and I'm content.

I've enjoyed Blue Smoke. The chef, Jean-Paul Bourgeois, is from Thibodaux.

I was just taking a look at that one. Mighty Quinn looks really good, but Blue Smoke is closer to my hotel/office and has a better bar/TV setup for someone like me who likely would be bellying up.

Mighty Quinn’s is the best in Manhattan. Hometown bbq is the best in the city.

I’ve been to Adam Perry Lang’s Daisy Mays that was very good but that’s been a long time ago.

Blue smoke is a good atmosphere and pretty good ribs; I haven't been there in about a decade though.

I was going to recommend Dinosaur but not an easy get to if you're in midtown.

Just go to an asian spot and eat 50 dumplings instead. There are some DAMN fine dumpling spots there
