Not right now but it is the first cousin of the rice and sugarcane borer. Meaning there is a risk of it jumping over to sugarcane to find a suitable host.
There are cheaper insecticides that can wipe out this borer. However due to the toxicity of the insecticides to fish and invertebrates and the proximity to water we are at an impasse.
