These tariffs on China will kill the oil industry.

I know a lot of you work in the oil industry, and you damn well know tariffs are a terrible idea. Not only will we lose one of the biggest importers of our oil as they'll go elsewhere (likely Russia) for their oil, but everything will go up in price due to the backlash we will receive.
I think we can all agree these tariffs are such a bad idea. There are other ways to try and lessen the deficit, this will actually make the deficit even worse.

Just like $60bbl/oil was going to kill them right.
All it did was force the industry to adjust and get more efficient. They'll do the same with this.

I hope you guys enjoy spending 10% extra on everything as well. This only hurts the consumer.

Tariffs are a bad idea. UNLESS, he uses this for quickly negotiating some more favorable things.
There is no country on earth that WANTS to give a middle finger to a 20 Trillion dollar economy.
Now, am I confident that something smart will come out of this (quickly)? No. But, I am not ruling it out. Dude has done a few things pretty well.
I will wait and judge by results.

Tariffs on steel and aluminum will have a heavy impact on employment in Texas, where the number of jobs in the energy industry — which relies on foreign steel and aluminum for rigs, pipelines and other equipment— are nearly double the number of aluminum and steel jobs nationwide.
The U.S. can expect to lose between one and 1.5 oil and gas jobs for every single steel or aluminum job saved by the tariffs, said Karr Ingham, an economist who studies the Texas oil industry. Texas has 225,000 jobs in oil and gas exploration, production and services, far more than the 140,000 jobs nationally in steel and aluminum that the tariffs are meant to bolster, Ingham said.

You say this because I laugh at the notion that the entire poliboard can agree on anything?

What "other ways" do you have in mind?

I know you Trump Sheep are trying to figure out how to spin this as another brilliant stroke for the Don, but the reality is this is a moron's move (Tillerson right) by our idiot president. Trade wars are not good for most industries, and yes, the oil industry, agriculture, and consumers will all get hurt. BTW, how did you 401k do today?

You are low energy. Sad!

This isn't going to do shite to stopping Chinese companies from stealing intellectual property.
How about leaving less stuff in public records (like patents) that can be duplicated?

War is not good for any populace.
WWII sucked in particular.
Maybe we should have simply accepted the attack at Pearl Harbor and called it a day?
OTOH, we are nowhere near a "trade war".

You guys supporting these tariffs are incredibly naive in thinking anything positive will come from it. There's so much more risk on the negative side, it's not even funny. Let's name all of the previous times these tariffs were successful. Lets hear them.

Now, apply that to the steel industry and Chinese competition....
