Are the trails at Tunica Hills safe for kids? I have a 5 and 7 year old.

Thanks.

It is a workout, and you don't have to wander off-trail. I went as early as 5-6 and we always did the primitive path to the waterfalls. Let them play, explore and have fun. They will be fine.
ETA - Stop at the country store, they will love it. It is right before you get there. And don't miss the turn off or you will end up at Angola (spoken from experience)

Watch out for rattlesnakes in that area.

Spray them down really good with bug spray. Ticks out there can be insane

Tourette's can be such a pain. There are some good meds out there now though.

All the kids that have been going there for years say yes.

The key is keeping them on the trails. Don't lay out a blanket and fall asleep while they run around on the cliffs. Supervise your kids. They and you will have a blast. Like Dirty Mike said, slather them up with bug spray before you go, because he is right about the ticks. This is the perfect time of year to go, before all the poison ivy is out in full, but there may be some still present so be mindful.
I was taking my kid out there at 7 or 8 years old but always see people with younger ones. You may have to carry the 5 year old out if they get tired. As Liz said the country store is a must too. Moon pies and a Gatorade or soda pop after the hike.

Lots of black panthers out there

Keep towels and a change of clothes in the car.
Swing through Popeyes and get the making for a feast down there. But don’t leave any trash. Daiquiris are good to bring as well.

I went towards the beginning of December. It was actually surprisingly pretty intense. Granted we went everywhere that we could on the "primitive trail" and all of it but I was sore for several days after.
I think it's maybe fine with kids that young as long as you don't try to push through the whole primitive trail and everything and just explore the first half of the trails. Main thing I'm thinking about is how tiring it is and there are a couple of drop offs that would be difficult for a 5 year old to manage because of how unfinished it is.

Very much so. Just be aware the walk in is easy as it’s mostly downhill. The walk out is the tougher part for little ones so make sure to not wear them out before starting to head back to car.
Kids like to get off the trail and walk the creek.

Get you an Italian burrito from Sonny's on the way home

I’d be more worried about whether or not you’re gonna end up having to carry 2 kids uphill back to the car if the hike wears them out. The trails are safe but its a workout, especially the trip back to the entrance thats mostly an uphill hike.

They are tough trails, it was actually a surprise last night we went. Keep a close eye on them because there are some pretty steep falls if they trip or slip. They’ll have a blast, it’s a great place to explore!

As high as the river is right now, are the trails flooded?

I wouldn’t do the longer, unfinished trail with kids that young unless you’ve done stuff like this before.
Or if you have done that trail and thought: meh.
Because odds are you’ll be carrying one if not both for parts of the trail. Not because of danger, but sheer exhaustion from the kids. Up the hill and down the hill. Up the hill and down the hill.
What’s worse is you are kinda committed once you start. Trail blazer markers are in one direction. Be advised there is only a bathroom at the trailhead, and the full loop with kids can easily take as long as 4-5 hours to do.
I foresee potentially a lot of this:

Took mine hiking (with elevation) at age 3 and she did great. Maybe plan a scavenger hunt for them, or something that might add to the adventure if they're not already hikers.

Do not go on the primitive trail with the kiddos. You will get lost and/or worn out. The highest point out there is a challenge. Have to climb up a 45 degree angle hill with only trees and roots for grip
The main trail takes 2-4 hours and has plenty of cool sights.
Oh and stretch before.

The primitive trail is reasonably difficult for people who generally hike flat ground.

Let me second the guy who said watch out for rattlesnakes.
