the ticket is cheaper if you buy it at the airport counter vs buying online.

Main thing to think about on ultra low cost is that many times flights to places are once and day and not every day of the week. And if flights are below a certain occupancy level its cancelled. Point being you need to flexible to fly them. If tight schedule or lots of family it's just not worth it. Southwest, united etc have multiple flights daily. If there's an issue they can put you on a different flight or route you through a different city. Not so on spirit frontier etc. Flight cancelled you wait till next availability which could be a few days or you find a different way home. Had this happen to a buddy. I flew them out to Vegas round trip for 135 bucks. I brought a seat cushion since the seats are metal and I read a book since there is no WiFi. It was fine. Plane left late and apparently that's pretty normal.

You don’t have to pay the passenger usage fee when purchasing tickets at the airline. It’s something like $20/ticket each way. It can definitely be worth a trip to the airport if you’re buying tickets for a large group.
