I hear this a lot, but it's always anecdotal... not disagreeing with you, just have met many who feel similarly about WD (I've also personally had WD drives fail and not Seagate, but again... anecdotal).
If I were just going to buy drives, I'd buy WD because the EasyStore can be shucked for Reds, but on the single drive NAS ready system, the WD product is marginally more expensive but also has awful reviews from a usability standpoint. Not to mention they left a hardcoded backdoor exploit on most of their NAS products sitting around for 6 months with no attempt to correct it until it was announced.
Any recommendations on a better alternative that would stay under $200 or so for 4TB? I am not in a rush... can always return this one and wait for the WD 8TB drives to go on sale again, just not sure I wanna shell out 300 bucks on an enclosure too.
