1 year deal.
Dude played good snaps last year I liked him.
2.5 sacks in what 4 or so games

Nobody hands out "prove it" deals like Mickey.

I like the signing.
BTW: It's re-signed, not resigned. The latter suggests we had him quit.

Good signing. Glad to have him back. Solid rotation guy.

More than vet minimum. Not by too much though. He still has to make the team, but he shouldn't have a problem doing that if he plays like he did last year. LINK
In an effort to bolster their depth on the defensive line this season, the New Orleans signed defensive end George Johnson to a reported one-year extension, but now we have an idea of what investment the team has made in him.
Johnson’s extension will be worth a total of $1.005 million, and includes a signing bonus of $30,000, and another bonus of $60,000 if he is on the team’s roster for Week 1 of the 2018 season, NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero reports.
Undrafted from Rutgers eight years ago, Johnson had two stints with Tampa Bay and Detroit each and one with Minnesota before landing in New Orleans late in the 2017 season, the day after his 30th birthday. In his first two games with the Saints, he recorded 2.5 sacks.
In his career, Johnson boasts 8.5 total sacks and 66 combined tackles. He’ll feature on an edge rushing rotation that is expected to field Cameron Jordan and Alex Okafor at the starting positions, though Okafor’s presence on the team is not yet certain as he approaches free agency following his first year with the Saints.

I think he has a decent chance to make the roster.
Assuming we re-sign Okafor & draft a DE with a high-mid round pick (rounds 1-4)...we would have Cam, Okafor, Trey Hendrickson, & the draft pick. I'd assume that those 4 guys are locks to make the team.
We'll probably keep 5 DE's if I had to guess. George Johnson's competition would be Kikaha & Muhammad for that 5th DE spot. He'll have to earn it, but he has a chance imo. We might not even draft a DE if the value isn't there in rounds 1-4. 5th round draft picks or later are subject to being cut or placed on the practice squad (if it looks like he's not ready or doesn't seem to have potential).

The base is vet minimum and the bonuses are (I believe) the max allowed to get vet minimum credit fora player for cap purposes.
So his cap hit would be that of a third year vet minimum player plus the $30k plus the $60k.
If he doesn't make the roster it's just $30k we are on the hook for.

That's good news. Should be some good competition in the pre-season for DE depth.
Johnson brings better run defense to the table than Kikaha & Muhammad do (unless Muhammad has improved a decent amount from last year).
Kikaha is the best proven pass rusher of the 3 & Muhammad easily has the highest ceiling of the 3. Pretty sure Kikaha was playing LB last year ahead of Mauti & Gerald Hodges at the end of the season. He actually did a decent job IIRC before he got hurt (and placed on IR). So Kikaha also has that going for him, I guess.

Overthecap just added his contract. He has a 720 k cap # in 2018.

Still waiting on the complete contract details of Kurt Coleman to be made public.
