The inside is actually in better shape than the outside.

Can anyone give me guidance?

What type of bit attachments do I need to grind off this rust?

I'd say it's worth the $7 you'll pay for it.

Scrape. Paint. Cook. Repeat

It wont last forever, but can at least do its job for another year or two with a little care

you'd be shocked at how much better you could make it look with a wide wheel and grinder. Go soft and slow till you get the hang of it

After that, prime and paint and roll with it. Paint covers up a lot of ugly

Yes. It wouldn't be hard to do if you have the tools.

Very salvageable. Have had great experiences with this paint. F those saying just get a new. Those are the guys with more money than sense. Or the guys with new trucks in front of their rundown double wide. Aka no concept of money.

IMO it's going to come down to you and you only. What are YOU willing to put into it as far as time, elbow grease, tools, new parts, paint, etc... To me as long as it isn't so weak in spots that it's ready to fall apart and the time/money needed is nominal as opposed to buying a NEW grill that YOU like then go for it. Like others have said I think it's definitely salvageable. I don't see the point in spending unnecessary money on items like a new grill if it's not needed but that is me. I also don't need a $1000 grill to make good food either...again that's me. Good luck!

They make a sanding disc commonly referred to as a “tiger paw”. The disc has a heavy grit sand paper on its outer edges. A wire wheel and tiger paw would remove the scale (rust) and put a good anchor pattern for the high heat paint. Nothing wrong with putting some elbow grease into it and salvaging it.

The wire wheel and tiger paw will fit on a 4 1/2” grinder
